Epoch Biodesign Limited

Epoch Biodesign recycles both Nylon 66 and Nylon 6 with a unique, low-energy, low-cost enzymatic depolymerisation process. This biological approach allows complex Nylon blends to be recycled into drop in replacement 'virgin-quality' materials; creating a true closed-loop solution with low carbon footprint.

Designed to integrate directly into existing supply chains, Epoch's technology handles any mix, colour, or form of Nylon, including heavily contaminated and elastane-blended textiles, engineering plastics, and coated materials. It transforms complex waste into monomers that match the performance and price of fossil-based inputs, enabling true textile-to-textile (T2T) recycling at scale.

Founded in 2019 and backed by $40 million in funding, Epoch Biodesign is based in London and supported by global investors and strategic partners such as Inditex (Mundi Ventures), Extantia, and Lowercarbon Capital. Their growing team of 45 spans synthetic biology, AI, chemical engineering, and industrial scale-up.

Epoch’s first pilot production site is already generating enzymatically recycled Nylon for customer sampling. A 150-tonne-per-year demonstration plant will launch in late 2025, followed by a first-of-a-kind commercial facility in 2028. They're actively building partnerships across industries to secure waste feedstocks and deliver recycled materials back into global supply chains.

Epoch enables brands and manufacturers to scale circularity for Nylon without compromise on cost, quality, or performance.
