Vision
Making Cycling Green – Dealing with cycling’s dirty underbelly
The Problem
Bicycle shops and retailers have no direct methods for the disposal of scrap tyres and inner tubes through standard waste collection routes. According to research this was approximately 10,000 tonnes of scrap bicycle tyres and inner tubes in 2016, with a growth in cycling year on year. Standard collection services will generally refuse to take them as they are considered complex waste. Legislation is in place, creating a hierarchy of ecological collections meaning that the primary route to disposal for the individual and the store will be recycling.
Solution
Offering a collection scheme (similar to standard waste collection schemes), to bicycle retailers of all sizes, on a subscription basis for the collection of bicycle tyres, inner tubes and bicycle li-ion batteries specifically.Address
