Bob Holtermans

Founder and CEO, Insect Engineers
Hi, I’m Bob Holtermans, founder and CEO of Insect Engineers. Our mission is to make Black Soldier Fly (BSF) farming a commercially viable and sustainable solution for the future. Since becoming an entrepreneur in 2004, I’ve combined my passion for insects with a commitment to sustainability, believing firmly that BSF farming holds the key to tackling global challenges such as food security, organic waste management, and environmental protection.
At Insect Engineers, we design and deliver turnkey systems for the breeding, production, and processing of BSF larvae—an efficient, nutrient-rich source of protein and fat suitable for animal feed and a variety of other applications. To support the industry’s growth, we also run the Insect School—a comprehensive online platform offering courses, webinars, and consultancy services for those eager to learn more about BSF farming.
I’ve had the privilege of speaking at numerous conferences within the insect farming sector, where I share my vision, experiences, and a touch of humour with fellow innovators and enthusiasts. I’m always excited to connect with others who share a passion for insects, technology, and sustainable solutions.
