Prof Sigrun M. Wagner,
Sigrun Wagner is a certified Carbon Literacy Trainer and Professor in International Business and Sustainability at Royal Holloway, University of London, and a former Head of Department there. In 2020 she published a textbook on Business and Environmental Sustainability with Routledge. In 2021, she piloted Royal Holloway’s first Carbon Literacy Training course using the Nottingham Trent University toolkit for Higher Education, now run twice-yearly and leading to about 200 certified learners in the institution, including academic and professional services staff, undergraduate and postgraduate students and invited external participants to help spread the word with very positive feedback. She has contributed to the university’s environmental sustainability strategy and in 2025 led the institution’s effort to becoming a certified Carbon Literacy Educator (Bronze Status).
Outside the university, she has delivered CLT to a German university (online) and a German climate NGO (hybrid), and to UK theatre companies (online), including the Royal Shakespeare Company and National Theatre Scotland and she has taught the Church of England CLT Course online to priests, parishioners and diocesan staff primarily in London, as well as Bristol, Nottingham and Manchester. In 2023-24 she used a year-long sabbatical to gain practical experience in sustainability to complement her academic expertise, and in 2025 developed a climate communications toolkit based on her work with companies and Carbon Literacy.
