The Waste Authority Lounge will return to Recycling Expo 2026 as a dedicated, high-value space created exclusively for Local Authorities, Waste Authorities, and public-sector leaders from across the UK. Recognising the challenge of securing time away from the front line, the Lounge is designed to offer clear professional value, targeted learning, and practical outcomes that support day-to-day decision-making.

Throughout the two days, the Lounge will welcome teams working across collections, disposal, recycling infrastructure, procurement, policy, and community engagement — providing a central hub to exchange insight, compare approaches, and discuss shared challenges in a focused, supportive environment.

This year’s lounge will once again build on the strong presence of London’s Waste Authorities, regional disposal authorities, and representatives from NAWDO, who played a key role in shaping discussions at the 2025 event.

In 2026, the Lounge will introduce new features specifically developed to help local authority professionals justify attendance and maximise the value of their time onsite, including:

  • Closed-door roundtables on EPR readiness, digital reporting, procurement strategy, and regional best practice

  • Pre-bookable supplier consultations with technology providers, reprocessors, and infrastructure partners

  • LA-focused guided tours of key zones and innovations relevant to statutory responsibilities

  • Optional CPD certificates recognising professional development

  • A peer insights pack summarising policy shifts, performance benchmarks, and market intelligence

  • A hosted networking reception bringing together authorities, industry partners, and policy influencers

The Lounge provides a calm, professional base for meetings, reflection, and collaboration — giving local authority teams the space they need to build relationships, share insights, and bring back tangible outcomes for their organisations.
